The lily pad palms
the lotus of its cargo
over endless waves.

Office Poems

I

Clerks write up 
a divorce
in an office
dusty with light
and in the corner
a senile beetle 
has crawled in
and cools.

II

The green leaves
shutter into the papers
of each case
and patter hand to hand
in a whitewashed procession.

III

The book-keeper 
alerts the clerks
as the bosses 
wife’s bright car 
smudges across 
her parking space.

IV

The clerks measure out their lives
in corporate time-sheets.
